Leaving on a jet plane...with a heavy heart.

I have been MIA for the last month, but my Aunt Maureen's condition has worsened. She is still in ICU at UAB. My Aunt Tina has been very caring, and very informative with her updates. As of Today she has been in ICU for 4 weeks and 2 days. She has had a trachea for the last 3 weeks or so, which is hooked up to a ventilator because with her broken ribs, she is too painful to breath normally. Last week my Aunt Tina informed us that she now has pneumonia. Most of the day she is sedated, and when she is awake, she is not really coherent, from what my Aunt Tina has told me.
On Monday, my dad and I are flying from Detroit to Birmingham to visit with her and my Aunt Tina and Grandma. I'm not sure what to expect, but I'm very thankful that I get to be near her.
Aunt Tina says that she is in denial of what is happening. I guess I didn't realize it, but I am too. My mind wanders to dark places, then I have to snap myself out of it and hold as much hope as I can hang on to.
